Could Qetaifan’s ‘Icon Tower’ be Qatar’s Next Record-breaking Attraction?
Qatar is a land of several iconic tourist attractions. Some locations like the Pearl-Qatar, the Souq Waqif, and the Katara Cultural Village have become famous throughout Asia. However, there is a new attraction that is set to become one of the biggest iconic attractions of Qatar. This is the Icon Tower that is being built on the North Island of Qetaifan Island. This is because the Icon Tower Qatar is set to break not one but two Guinness World Records simultaneously.
Tallest Water Slide in the World
Breaking a Guinness World Record will not be a first for Qatar. The world’s largest painting was recently made in Qatar that spanned 9,652 square metres of a football field. This was painted by Qatari artist Emad Salehi in December 2022. Similarly, the Icon Tower Qatar at Qetaifan Island will be a similar achievement. It is set to break the Guinness World Record for the tallest water slide.
Currently, the tallest water slide in the world is the Verrückt, located in the Schlitterbahn Kansas City, USA. The Verrückt is about 51 metres high. Whereas, the Icon Tower Qatar is set to reach a height of 85 metres.
The Most Water Slides from a Single Tower
Besides breaking the Guinness World Record for the tallest water slide, the Icon Tower Qatar is also vying for another Guinness World Record. According to the research and assessments of the Construction Engineer Mustafa Al Cherkawi at Qetaifan Projects, the Icon Tower is set to break the record for the most number of water slides from a single tower.
Currently, there are no such towers that have more than 2 water slides. The Icon Tower Qatar at Qetaifan Island is being constructed with 12 water slides from a single tower. This tower will have 6 levels and each level will house 2 water slides.
Qetaifan Island North Water Park
Along with the Icon Tower Qatar, Qetaifan Projects is building an entire water park that spans 250,000 square metres in area. As of December 2022, about 60% of this water park has been completed by Qetaifan Projects. Moreover, the current forecasts suggest that this water park will garner about 6,500 visitors every day. For visitors with more refined tastes, the Icon Tower Qatar will also feature the Icon Island Restaurant which will serve opulent gourmet cuisine from around the world.
Experience the Adrenaline Rush at Icon Tower Qatar
Apart from the 12 rides, the Icon Tower will also have a viewing point from where visitors will be able to witness the Doha, Lusail City skyline in all its mesmerising beauty. From the top of the Icon Tower, visitors can easily spot the Lusail Stadium, the Plaza Towers, the Porto Arabia, as well as the West Bay. Besides the Icon Tower rides, visitors can also experience an iconic slide wheel ride, which is only one of the three such rides available across the world. The Icon Tower water park on Qetaifan Island will also house restaurants, cabanas, pools, and several other rides and towers.
Icon Tower Qatar was set to open towards the end of 2022 just ahead of the FIFA World Cup. While most of the rides at this water park are now open, there are still a few unique attractions that are yet to be completed. Moreover, the 85 metres high Icon Tower has not yet been completed but is set to be done soon and opened within the next year. So, start your pre-bookings because this will be Qetaifan Projects’ most exhilarating attraction.
