Qetaifan Projects and Severn Lamb Sign Contract for Manufacture and Installation of Waterpark Train

Qetaifan Projects, the company owned by Katara Hospitality, established to develop and manage Qetaifan Island North, signed a contract with Severn Lamb, the world leaders in the design, manufacture, and supply of light urban, leisure, and resort transport, for the manufacture, shipment and installation of the Waterpark Train.

The contract was signed by H.E Sheikh Nasser Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani – Qetaifan Projects’ Managing Director, and Mr. Patrick Lamb – Severn Lamb’s Managing Director. In presence of Mr. Mohamed ElGarhy – Qetaifan Projects’ Chief Technical Officer, Mr. Hesham Sharaf – Chief Operating Officer and Mr. Jean Michel Antonios – Chief Legal Officer.

On this occasion, Sheikh Nasser Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani said: “We are delighted to be signing with Severn Lamb, one of the leading companies in the leisure and resort transport industry. This cooperation comes as a continuation of the realization of the company’s vision to make Qetaifan Island North the first entertainment destination of its kind in Qatar”. H.E has also added “the waterpark is considered the most important element on the island and the preferred destination for visitors. As Qetaifan Island North in general, and the Waterpark in particular will host large numbers of visitors, including Qatar’s residents as well as tourists with its opening coinciding with the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Doha”. He explained “the train will transport the waterpark visitors from the main island to the Iconic Island on which the 80m high water slide; the highest of its kind in the world, will be located”.

It is worth mentioning that Qetaifan Island North’s Waterpark spans 137,000 square meters and is surrounded by 6 beaches and a hotel with the capacity of 350 keys, in addition to the beach club and retail area. The waterpark features 36 waterslides and rides and is part of Qetaifan Island North, which is part of Lusail City. It will be the first entertainment and touristic island in Qatar, making it a distinctive waterfront for the city. The whole island spans approximately 1.3 million square meters, and the projects area on the island extends to approximately 830 thousand square meters.
